Chicago scored 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by George Mitterwald who silenced the crowd when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season). Chicago had 7 hits for the afternoon. The win was credited to Reuschel(10-8) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Jerry Koosman(5-8) took the loss. He gave up 6 runs and 4 hits in 7 innings. Although they lost, Montreal did out-hit Pittsburgh 10 to 6. Steve Rogers(6-8) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. The deciding run was scored by Los Angeles in the bottom of the 9th. After an out was recorded, John Hale singled, and an error was also committed. Yeager came to the plate and laced a single giving Los Angeles the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Los Angeles had just 6 hits for the night. The win went to Al Downing(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. The losing pitcher was Pete Falcone(4-9). He gave up 6 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. ST. Underwood(5-9) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Gibson(3-9) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 4 runs in 3 innings.
