Johnny Bench cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the San Diego Padres by the score of 10 to 4.
Bench helped send the fans home happy. He hit a single in the 1st inning,
cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run
home run (his 21st of the season) in the 7th inning. Cincinnati had 15 hits
for the night while San Diego had 10.
The victory went to Gary Nolan(8-5) who went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs. Pedro
Borbon recorded his 6th save. Joe McIntosh(5-7) was charged with the loss.
