In a two run game the San Diego Padres got by the Cincinnati Reds by the score

Randy Jones(7-8) earned his pay with a solid performance for San Diego. He
went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 walks. San Diego finished with
14 hits while Cincinnati ended up with 10.
Jack Billingham(6-6) took the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 2 walks in
4 and 1/3 innings. 'I had a little blister on my index finger before the
game, but I thought it was nothing.' Jones said. 'I was lucky I got a win
because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
