Clay Carroll(4-3) and Dave Freisleben(1-14) treated the Cincinnati fans to a
fine pitching duel at Riverfront Stadium. The Cincinnati Reds eventually
emerged as victors over the San Diego Padres by the score of 2 to 0.
Carroll pitched a fine game. He allowed 6 hits and no walks in 6 and 1/3
innings. Carroll chalked up 8 strikeouts seeing his ERA drop from 3.02 to
2.63. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
Rawly Eastwick recorded the save, his 4th.
