Bert Blyleven was able to finish what he started and was credited with a

complete game and Eric Soderholm left the yard and had 5 RBI as the Minnesota

Twins defeated the Cleveland Indians by the score of 10 to 3 at Metropolitan

Stadium.



Soderholm helped send the fans home happy. He belted a three-run homer (his

2nd of the season) in the 3rd inning and hit a single resulting in a run in

the 6th inning. Minnesota banged out 13 hits on the night.



The win was credited to Blyleven(4-4) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.

Don Hood(0-3) was the losing pitcher. His biggest problem was control as he

allowed 5 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers had an easy time of it at Arlington Stadium defeating

the Texas Rangers by a score of 6 to 1.



Milwaukee came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning

when they scored 5 runs on 3 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by

Darrell Porter who quieted the home crowd when he doubled scoring two

baserunners. For the game Milwaukee out-hit Texas 7 to 4.



Pete Broberg(5-3) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 and 1/3 innings. Steve

Hargan(2-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 6 runs and 7 hits in 8 and

2/3 innings.



With this win, Milwaukee has a 15-14 record. They have been 4-6 lately. With

the loss, Texas has a record of 5-5 lately, 16-16 overall.

Bernie Carbo went deep as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals 8

to 2 at Fenway Park.



Luis Tiant(5-3) delivered a fine performance for Boston. He went 8 innings

surrendering 5 hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA to 4.25. Boston finished

with 8 hits while Kansas City ended up with 5.



Steve Busby(6-2) took the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.
