Don Gullett allowed just 2 hits as the Cincinnati Reds topped the Montreal
Expos by a score of 3 to 1 at Riverfront Stadium.
Gullett(8-1) escaped virtually unscathed against the Montreal hitters. He
didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Montreal proved to
be no trouble in the 9th.
Steve Renko(2-3) was hit with the loss. Although losing the contest, he
whiffed 10 batters in 7 innings. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances
today,' Gene Mauch said. 'Gullett just was too much for our guys.'
