First baseman Dick Allen had 4 hits and 6 RBI and Jim Lonborg allowed Danny
Ozark to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Philadelphia
Phillies outscored the Cincinnati Reds 7 to 4.

Allen was in a groove all day. The Cincinnati fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He tripled which scored a run in the 1st
inning, lined a one-base hit plating two runs in the 2nd inning, cleared the
fences for a two-run home run (his 1st of the season) in the 4th inning and
stroked a base-hit scoring a run in the 6th inning. Philadelphia rapped out
10 hits for the afternoon.

The win went to Lonborg(4-1) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Clay Kirby(1-1)
suffered the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.

'The ball was jumping off my bat' Allen said. 'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'
