One run was the difference at Jarry Park as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
struggling Montreal Expos 4 to 3.
Cincinnati jumped on top to stay in the 7th inning plating an isolated run on
2 hits. Montreal made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.
Fredie Norman(1-2) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Will McEnaney
earned his 3rd save. The losing pitcher was Steve Rogers(3-4). Sparky
Anderson was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
