The New York Mets nipped the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings 7 to 6 at Shea
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
The score was tied at 6 after nine. New York was victorious in the 10th
inning. Felix Millan laced a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Rusty
Staub stepped in and he doubled making New York the victor and beginning a
joyous home town celebration. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5
times.
The win went to Bob Apodaca(1-2) who allowed 2 runs in 3 innings. Clay
Carroll(1-2) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run in 1 inning and
saw his ERA jump from 3.14 to 3.52.
