One run was the difference at Riverfront Stadium as the New York Mets defeated
the Cincinnati Reds 3 to 2.

The game started off with New York taking the lead in the first plating an
isolated run using 2 hits. Tom Seaver(5-3) got help from Bob Apodaca who
pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 5th save.

Jack Billingham(3-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 8 hits and 3 walks in
7 innings.
