Right fielder Ken Griffey had 3 base hits as the Cincinnati Reds beat the
Chicago Cubs by a score of 2 to 1.

Cincinnati tallied 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they had 4 base
hits. It was enough to earn the victory. Chicago had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.

Pat Darcy(3-1) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Darcy
was helped out by Clay Carroll who recorded his 6th save. Bill Bonham(2-9)
was the loser. He surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us today' Jim Marshall
said. 'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard to
take.'
