Bill Madlock had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Chicago Cubs defeated the
Cincinnati Reds 6 to 1 at Riverfront Stadium.
Chicago had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 4th inning when they had
5 base hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. For the game Chicago
out-hit Cincinnati 14 to 11.
The win was credited to Ray Burris(3-6) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1
run. Burris got relief help from Ken Frailing who gained credit for his 4th
save. Jack Billingham(4-5) suffered the loss.
Chicago, who had been struggling lately, moved their record to 23-28. They
are now 2-8 in their last ten games. Cincinnati has a record of 30-24 after
the loss.
