Johnny Bench hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Atlanta Braves by the score of 9 to 6.
Bench had a good evening at the plate. He smacked a three-run homer (his 18th
of the season) in the 5th inning and banged out a single which scored a run
in the 7th inning. Cincinnati won despite being out-hit by Atlanta 14 hits
to 11.
Gary Nolan(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Carl
Morton(6-6) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 4 walks in 6
innings.
