Center fielder Cesar Geronimo hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Atlanta Braves by the score of 9 to 1 at
Riverfront Stadium.

Cincinnati took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring a
single run on 2 hits. Geronimo doubled. Dave Concepcion followed and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt. George Foster then tripled scoring the run.
That early run support was enough for Don Gullett(12-1) and Cincinnati. For
the game Cincinnati out-hit Atlanta 12 to 6.

Phil Niekro(7-5) suffered the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 7 runs in 2 innings. This win by Cincinnati continues their recent hot
streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 9-1. For the season,
they are a division leading 39-25. With this loss, Atlanta has a 3-7 record
of late, 30-34 overall.
