Ken Griffey had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Don Gullett hurled a 2 hitter at
Riverfront Stadium where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 10 to
1.
Cincinnati took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning as they scored 3 runs on
3 base hits. That early scoring was all that Gullett(10-1) needed.
Cincinnati finished with 13 hits in the victory.
The losing pitcher was Bill Bonham(2-8). He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits
and 4 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings. 'He came out with good stuff,' Sparky
Anderson said about Gullett. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch
on.'
