Fredie Norman dominated striking out 10 Pittsburgh batters and George Foster

had 3 base hits at Three Rivers Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds beat the

Pittsburgh Pirates 7 to 2.

Norman(2-2) pitched well for Cincinnati in their victory. He went 7 innings

surrendering 3 hits and 1 walk and was touched for 2 homeruns reducing his

ERA from 4.68 to 4.38. Cincinnati ended up with 12 hits for the game while

Pittsburgh had 3.

Jerry Reuss(6-3) absorbed the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 3

walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Norman was asked about his big strikeout

performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the

road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets

real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the

crowd out of the game.'
