Johnny Bench had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the streaking Cincinnati Reds outscored
the Atlanta Braves 10 to 3.
Bench had a big day with his bat. He doubled in the 3rd inning, tripled in
the 5th inning, banged out a single bringing in two baserunners in the 7th
inning and doubled plating two runs in the 8th inning. Cincinnati dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
The victory went to Don Gullett(4-0) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Ron Reed(2-2) was charged with the loss. The winning ways continue for
Cincinnati. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. With this loss,
Atlanta has a 6-4 record of late, 9-7 overall.
