In a two run game the Cincinnati Reds got by the San Francisco Giants in 10
innings by the score of 5 to 3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Cincinnati came out on
top in the 10th inning. After two outs Dave Concepcion began the Cincinnati
spurt when he lined a one-base hit, and an error was also committed. Joe
Morgan stepped up next and he was walked intentionally. Johnny Bench then
slapped a base-hit to load the bases. Tony Perez came up and he doubled
plating two runs. Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the afternoon.
Will McEnaney(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing
no runs. The loss was charged to Gary Lavelle(2-2) in relief. He gave up 2
hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
