Catcher Johnny Bench smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Atlanta Braves by the score of 6 to 2 at RiverfrontStadium. Bench had a good evening at the plate. He ripped a solo home run in the 2ndinning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 10th of theseason) in the 7th inning. Cincinnati managed only 6 hits on the night. Gary Nolan(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 2runs. Roric Harrison(3-1) was charged with the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 4hits in 6 innings. The winning ways continue for Cincinnati. They now have a record of 8-2 inrecent days. With the loss Atlanta now has a record of 14-12.
