Lou Piniella had 4 hits as the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox by

a score of 7 to 4 at Fenway Park.



New York did all of it's offensive work in the 4th inning showing no mercy on

Boston as they plated 7 runs on 6 hits. The key offensive moment was

provided by Elliott Maddox who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd

when he laced a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. New York finished

with 12 hits in the victory.



Pat Dobson(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and

allowing 4 runs. Dick Tidrow gained credit for his 3rd save. Bill Lee(1-2)

was hit with the loss. He allowed New York 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of

work.

beat the California Angels by the count of 11 to 4.
