Don Gullett dominated striking out 10 San Francisco batters and Johnny Bench
had 2 base hits at Candlestick Park where the Cincinnati Reds beat the San
Francisco Giants by the score of 2 to 1.
Gullett(5-0) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and
5 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA to 2.21. San Francisco
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Clay Carroll recorded the save, his 3rd. Pete Falcone(1-2) was hit with the
loss. 'Everything felt great' Gullett said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I
could throw it by everybody tonight.'
